One incredible day, Jesus approached some fishermen and called out them, “Come, be my disciples.  Follow me!”  James, John, Andrew, and Peter immediately dropped their nets, stepped out of their fishing boats, and followed Jesus.  These men became more than believers.  They became his disciples who after three years of following Jesus embraced the Great Commission of Christ to “disciple” the nations.

Embrace His Call is a blog about sharing that same journey – a journey of being more than a believer by embracing His Call to be a devoted follower of Christ.  The desire of our Savior’s heart remains the same – that our lives be defined by our faith in Him, and we fulfill His Great Commission to be disciples who disciple others.

But how do we follow Jesus today?

We can’t follow him through the streets of Judea, Galilee, or Samaria.
We can’t follow him into the local synagogues to hear him preach.
We can’t follow him to the outskirts of town where he performs miracles of healing and deliverance.
We can’t sit at his feet on the mountainside while he explains the meaning of the parables.

So how do we follow him like James, John, Andrew, and Peter?

We can follow him through the Scriptures.  We hear his voice through His Word.  We are led by the presence of the Holy Spirit, whom he sent to teach us, perfect us, and mature us.  So join me on this journey, this following of Christ, as we listen to his voice, and we explore the truths and insights of His Word.

As I share what the Lord puts on my heart, please feel free to join the conversation.  (Words of encouragement will be particularly appreciated!)  I plan to post twice a month – the first and third Monday of the month.  If you would like to be notified when a new post is up, just submit your e-mail information in the Subscribe box on the Home page.

It is so good to hear from you, Joy! Thank you for thinking of me. I’m delighted to be able to read your blog and participate in it. Our church is going through a study called, “not a fan,” by Kyle Idleman. The emphasis of the book is “being a follower of Jesus.” So glad for this connection and a chance to chat with you!
